A stolen 24-tonne bulldozer crashed through a Royal Mail lorry in Wolverhampton on Monday evening, leaving shocked witnesses filming the dramatic scene. The earthmover tore through the city centre for more than two hours before coming to a stop in Willenhall. A 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in police custody.

West Midlands Police were alerted to the stolen construction vehicle just before 5:40 pm as it crossed into Wolverhampton from Staffordshire. The bulldozer damaged road surfaces as it moved through the city centre, then onto the A4150 dual carriageway. It finally stopped on New Road in Willenhall at 8:15 pm.

Witness Charlene Harris, 47, described the chaotic scene on Willenhall Road. «When we came out, it looked like the police were stopping the Royal Mail van, but then we realised a copper was driving it. It was being used to block the road,» she said. «The police were shouting at everyone to keep away - and then we got word that a bulldozer was coming down from Willenhall. The bulldozer got through the lorry easily. We couldn't believe what was going on. The amount of police trying to stop it was unbelievable.»

Arrest and Multiple Charges

The 41-year-old suspect faces numerous charges including drink driving, dangerous driving, and theft. Police also charged him with threatening to damage or destroy property, failing to stop, taking a conveyance without consent, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour to cause harassment.

The incident caused significant disruption across Wolverhampton and surrounding areas. The Royal Mail lorry was reportedly parked across the road as police attempted to block the bulldozer's path through the city.
