Two easyJet planes clipped wings during taxiing operations at Manchester Airport this morning, leading to flight suspensions and widespread delays for passengers.

The collision occurred just after 6.30am as both aircraft were preparing for departure.

A passenger on one of the planes shared an image of a wing with its tip damaged and twisted downwards.

Phil Aspin said: "We've crashed on the runway."

Another passenger bound for Marbella said: "Just on the plane at Manchester Airport and another plane has just hit our wing and took the wing off."

Airport authorities suspended flights while safety checks were carried out on both aircraft. Flight operations have since resumed, but passengers are likely to face delays throughout the day.

According to reports, the collision involved flights U22267 to Gibraltar and U22117 to Paris.

EasyJet has launched an investigation into the incident.
