Man charged with murder after teen dies in bike crash

A 59-year-old man will appear in court on Monday charged with murdering a teenage boy who died in a collision involving a car and an electric bike. The incident has shocked the local community in Greater Manchester.

Devon Simmonds-Caines, 15, died in the crash in Middleton just before midday on July 22. The collision between the car and electric bike has led to serious criminal charges being brought.

Court appearance scheduled

Terrence King, of Middleton, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the charges following their investigation into the fatal incident.

Family pays tribute

In a statement, Devon's family described him as an "outgoing, bubbly person" who "only wanted the best for everyone around him". They said the incident had shocked the whole family.

The family added: "It was a tragic incident that should never have happened that we don't want to tarnish Devon's legacy." Their tribute highlighted the devastating impact of losing the teenager.

Police address online speculation

Chief Inspector Jennifer Partington, from Greater Manchester Police's Rochdale district, addressed claims about online footage relating to the incident. She said footage claimed to show events before the incident is not currently linked to the investigation.

The senior officer urged the public not to share such material or speculate about the circumstances. Police are continuing their investigation into the fatal collision.
