A person was seriously injured on a ride at a popular funfair in Whitley Bay on Saturday afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the Spanish City funfair after receiving the call at 2:13pm.
North East Ambulance Service dispatched multiple emergency units to the scene. A spokesperson said: "We dispatched a rapid response paramedic, a clinical team leader, an emergency ambulance crew and the air ambulance. An off duty medic was also supporting the patient."
Major emergency response
The Mirror reports the Great North Air Ambulance Service landed on grass next to the funfair. Emergency services remained on scene throughout the afternoon dealing with the incident.
