Harriet Cowan, the 24-year-old star of Clarkson's Farm, has quit her nursing job to pursue farming full-time after her television success opened new career opportunities.

The glamorous farmhand announced she has caught the "farming bug" and will focus entirely on agriculture, though she plans to continue NHS bank shifts.

Cowan temporarily replaced Kaleb Cooper at Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm during the show's fourth series while he was away on tour.

The Derbyshire farmer will launch her YouTube channel "Harriet On The Farm" on 31st August.

She explained: "The cat's somewhat out of the bag. It's true, I am no longer nursing because it appears I got the bug. You definitely know what the bug is right, yeah I got the farming bug."

"I'm going to do bank shifts and I'm still going to be working in the NHS, but yeah just not daily," she added.

Cowan has established a new company called "Farmfluence" for her business ventures.

Since leaving the show, Cowan has returned to her family farm in Belper and launched the Farm24 campaign to promote British agriculture.

The initiative encourages farmers across the country to showcase British farming on social media for 24 hours, highlighting what she describes as a "dying industry".

She said: "Going forward I hope that the next generation of farms would be recognised more by the public and the government especially to put British farming on the map. People should be aware that we are here and the government should invest more time and money into farming because we need it."

"Being out on my family farm, it's so special to me because this is what my grandad bought it for. He wanted me and my sister and generations to come to own and farm this land," she explained.

Cowan works the family farm alongside her boyfriend James, who will also feature in her upcoming YouTube content.
